Yondah Beach House

2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 Category Winner - Deluxe Accommodation

Hall of Fame 2014, 2015, 2016 - Deluxe Accommodation

2014 & 2016 Qantas Australian Tourism Award Winner - Deluxe Accommodation

"Our participation in the SA Tourism Awards has really helped us improve and grow our business. When we started out, we had no plans, policies or procedures... just a great product that no-one knew about in a remote part of SA. The Awards process and the support we've received over the years from SATIC and SATC have inspired us to try harder every year, and our combined efforts have resulted in some spectacular successes. In 2016, Yondah won the 'Deluxe Accommodation' category for the second time at the Qantas Australian Tourism Awards, and was inducted into the SA Awards Hall of Fame after winning this category for three consecutive years. These wins have also led to valuable national media coverage and new business not just for Yondah, but also for our region. We think the Tourism Awards process is a fabulous (and fun) way to monitor your business, to increase its profile and instil pride in your team." - Michele Bain, Owner, Yondah Beach House

The Playford MGallery by Sofitel

2016 & 2017 Category Winner - Luxury Accommodation

Hall of Fame - 2009, 2010, 2011 - Luxury Accommodation

"The Playford continues to enter the Tourism Awards Program, as it provides an annual opportunity for not only an internal appraisal but also a third-party appraisal of our business. Reflection over the 12-month time frame allows us to assess our progress and our performance against changing consumer expectations with the outcome year on year providing a value of recognition. To prepare the submission our team needs to work together over a number of months in order to collate the information required. Within the document itself we also provide actual guest feedback with focus on staff recognition to highlight the importance of the people who make our business. Winning a Tourism Award provides a sense of achievement throughout the hotel and boosts staff morale whilst building consumer trust, setting an industry standard and setting a benchmark for us to improve year on year. We most definitely encourage other tourism businesses to enter the awards; the Tourism Awards Program is a fantastic exercise for any business. Our top tip would be to start with a Project Plan outlining resources, objectives, stages and in particular, time management. Each year the South Australian Tourism Industry Council provides additional services such as workshops and judges feedback which is beneficial in order to have a full understanding of the questions and requirements." - Zoe Sparr,  Director of Sales & Marketing, Playford Adelaide MGalley by Sofitel

Calypso Star Charters

2016 & 2017 Category Winner - Tourist Attractions

Hall of Fame - 2015, 2016, 2017 - Adventure Tourism

"Calypso Star Charters has been an entrant in the SATIC Awards for close to 10 years. We find it a beneficial way to critically reflect on our performance, and use it to aid decisions to improve our business. The awards process is very thorough and it’s very rewarding to see the improvements the business has made year to year. Like many business owners we see that one year is the same as the next and it’s not until you pull your business to pieces for literally a hundred hours or more, do you realise how many changes and improvements are made each year. The judge's feedback is comprehensive and of course the industry recognition is quiet humbling. Winning a SATIC Award is a rewarding experience, but we couldn't operate or win without our team of staff so it’s fantastic recognition for them also. The marketing exposure is very beneficial, giving guests the confidence that they are booking with a company that is at the top of their game. The win of course gives us entry into the National Awards which is pinnacle of success in the Tourism Industry. Even without winning or achieving a medal it is a very beneficial process for any tourism business to undertake. It forces you to spend the time to think about your business, something we rarely find enough time to do. Some tips would be to sell yourself and be persistent, the real winners in business are the ones who have some money in the bank at the end of the year, and the SATIC Awards process will help achieve this." - Andrew Wright, General Manager, Calypso Star Charters

Adelaide's Haunted Horizons

2015, 2016, 2017 Hall of Fame - Tour and Transport Operators

"I have never felt so grateful to those from SATIC as I do today, having made the Hall of Fame. The support, encouragement and continued acceptance and belief in what we do has been amazing. I would say to anybody, if you haven’t done this yet for your tourism business… why not? What are you waiting for!" - Alison Oborn, Owner, Adelaide's Haunted Horizons

Seppeltsfield Winery

2015 & 2016 Category Winner - Tourism Wineries, Distilleries & Breweries

2016 Qantas Australian Tourism Award Winner - Tourism Wineries, Distilleries & Breweries

"Entering the state awards allows us to benchmark our businesses against the best in the state and the nation. It is a great way to reflect on the previous year, while assisting in planning for the year to come. Winning is the reward for all the time and effort the team has put into the business. It shows the greater tourism industry and guests that we value the tourism experiences we offer. The first step in applying for a tourism award is to become tourism accredited, this will put you in a good position to start the award application process and is a sound business decision. TIP – Allow yourself plenty of time and collate relevant materials during the year for your submission." - Nicole Hodgson, Tourism & Events Manager, Seppeltsfield Winery

Mulberry Lodge Country Retreat

2016 Category Winner - Hosted Accommodation

"We thought this process would be a great way to help us focus, assess all our business processes and also help us identify areas for improvement in the business. Winning a Tourism Award is a great personal accolade confirming that we’re leading the way in Hosted Accommodation with our product. For our business, it most certainly will help us stand out from the crowd and is such a great marketing opportunity. I’d encourage other tourism businesses to give it a go. My tips would be attend all the free workshops, take the opportunity to view an award-winning submission, talk one to one with a judge and take advantage of the free pre submission judges assessment. All of these were invaluable to us especially entering the awards for the first time." - Hazel Parker, Owner, Mulberry Lodge Country Retreat.
