Besa Deda

Besa Deda is the Chief Economist of the St.George Banking Group, which includes St.George, Bank of Melbourne, BankSA and RAMS.  

Besa has been in this role since 2008.  In her role as the Chief Economist, Besa is the Bank’s economic spokesperson and is responsible for the Bank’s economic and markets research.  This includes forecasts for the economic outlook, interest rates and currencies.

Prior to this current role, Besa was a Senior Strategist and Economist with the Commonwealth Bank.  Besa was with the CBA for nearly 8 years and before that was an economist with the Colonial Group.

Collectively, Besa has nearly 20 years’ experience in Financial Markets.

Besa holds an honours degree in economics from the University of Sydney and a masters degree in applied finance from Macquarie University.

Besa is also the Secretary for the Australian Business Economists’ Association and does regular media crosses.

In the past, Besa has also written a property column for The Australian, lectured for Kaplan (formerly known as FINSIA) and was a reference group member of the Diversity Council of Australia’s Capitalising on Culture Study.
