Pauline, Jo and Justin will share insights into research commissioned by PIRSA and the opportunities this presents for South Australian businesses to grow their food and wine tourism offerings and leverage the growing demand for luxury product offerings in the Asia Pacific. They will also discuss Adelaide South Australia's membership in the Great Wine Capitals of the World network and the SA Wine Industry Development Scheme – highlighting how these programs are relevant to businesses looking to embrace food and wine tourism opportunities in the state.

Jo Collins | Executive Director, Agriculture Food and Wine | Primary Industries and Regions South Australia

As Executive Director of Agriculture, Food and Wine within Primary Industries and Regions SA, Jo drives the strategic direction of the agency and leads the development of the State Government’s strategic and economic priorities of Premium Food and Wine from our Clean Environment. Jo brings to PIRSA extensive skills in strategy development, organisational performance and reform, communications and community engagement and positioning government agency effort to best deliver strategic policy outcomes. Jo has held leadership positions with the Department.

Pauline Mooney | Executive Director Food Innovation | Primary Industries and Regions South Australia

Aff. Professor Pauline Mooney is the Executive Director Food Innovation. Pauline joined PIRSA in 2005 as its Director of Research at SARDI, and in 2010 was appointed to the role Executive Director SARDI. She took on the role of Executive Director Food Innovation in 2016. The role includes building strong relationships with industry and pursuing excellence in service delivery. Aff. Professor Mooney's aim is for the Food Innovation Taskforce to be the vehicle via which PIRSA delivers timely applied innovations which build South Australia’s food business capability, product attributes and value, and secures the premium product position in target domestic and international markets. Prior to joining PIRSA, Aff. Professor Mooney held a number of science leadership positions across a diverse range of disciplines from plant breeding and plant physiology through to gene technologies and bioengineering. She previously led horticulture, bioscience and food-related science programs in New Zealand and South Africa. Aff. Professor Mooney's has a Bachelor of Science (Honours) spanning the fields of botany, genetics, microbiology, plant pathology; Master of Science in phycology at the University of Natal in South Africa, and a PhD majoring in molecular biology at Sydney University; and is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD).

Justin Nugent | Managing Director | The Luxury Network Australia

Justin Nugent is Managing Director of the Luxury Network SA/NT, Global Ambassador at Bird in Hand and oversees a range of business interests including a Luxury Chauffeur Service and Joint Venture projects for SA Exporters. A former Solicitor at one of Australia’s largest law firms, Justin is an entrepreneurial executive with extensive and varied national and international experience. His wide range of projects in food and wine include; Founding Chair of the Adelaide Hills Food Producers, International Marketing Manager at Vasse Felix and 20 years’ experience helping Bird in Hand grow from olive oil alone into a global luxury brand.
