‘Nature Like Nowhere Else’, South Australia’s Strategy and Action Plan to activate nature-based tourism in South Australia, has been guiding the Government, industry and stakeholders since it was launched in February 2016.

How far have we travelled?

This workshop will explore progress on the implementation of the Action Plan including the successes, learnings, opportunities and challenges still facing South Australia in transforming the State’s nature offering.

Chris Thomas

Chris emigrated from the UK in 1993 with an honors degree in Marine Geography and a dive master ticket. He spent 10 years working for the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority as a Director of Tourism and Recreation before moving to South Australia in 2004.

Chris spent the next 10 years leading the establishment of South Australia’s network of 19 marine parks and more recently the development of the State’s Nature-based Tourism Strategy and Action Plan. He is currently the State Program Manager for Parks, Partenerships and Resource Protection with the Department of Environment, Water and Natural Resources.
