SATIC Workforce Futures Skills Advisor

 

SATIC is proud to offer a free consulting services for tourism businesses on Kangaroo Island. Our Industry Advisor will work with you to give your business a competitive advantage through one-on-one business planning, mentoring and advice. The service is government funded under the federal Workforce Futures program and is delivered free to businesses by SATIC.

The service is for small and medium tourism businesses on Kangaroo IslandPlaces are limited, so make sure you express your interest early.

 

How do I get started?

To start the process you need to simply click the Expression of interest button to express your interest, fill in your details and answer a few questions (this will take approximately 5 minutes).

* As part of the expression of interest, when you are asked 'Is there a particular Workforce Future Network Partner you would prefer to work with?' please ensure you select South Australian Tourism Industry Council

 

Who is the Skills Advisor?

Craig Wickham

Craig Wickham Tourism Skills Advisor SACraig Wickham is the Managing Director of Exceptional Kangaroo Island.  He grew up in a business family with interests in farming, accommodation and general contracting. He worked with the National Parks and Wildlife Service as a ranger before going solo in 1990 as a tour operator. Since that time Craig has continued with the tour operation branching out at various times to include a travel agency, tourism consultancy, accommodation booking service, restaurant and catering company.

 

 

What will my business receive?

Your professional advisor can assist you with:

  • Managing costs and risks
  • Retaining current customers and entering new markets
  • Enhancing the productivity of your people, property and equipment
  • Finding, training and retaining people to work in your business
  • Growing your business revenue and profitability
  • Identification of supply and demand issues and implementing strategies to overcome these

 

How will my business benefit?

Your professional advisor can assist you with:

  • Improving your marketing and e-tourism.
  • Enhancing the productivity of your people, property and equipment.
  • Finding, training and retaining people to work in your business.
  • Growing your business revenue and profitability.

 

What do I need to do to participate?

Great news! Any tourism and hospitality business can apply for the service. There are a few simple requirements, you will need:

  • A current Australian Business Number (ABN).
  • To have been operating your business for at least 12 months.
  • At least 25% of your business is directly related to tourism or hospitality.
  • Be a small business with less than a hundred employees.
  • Have a business plan that can be supplied to the Skills Advisor

 

What do I have to commit to?

You must be committed to working with the professional advisor to improve your business. This starts with setting aside some time (approximately 17.5hrs over the course of 6months) to sit down with your industry advisor at your place of business.

You also need to be committed to working on your business together over a six month period. If you can’t make the time to work on your business, this program will not benefit you. If you do invest time, you can build a competitive advantage for your business. There is no financial commitment required. The service is fully funded under the Workforce Futures program.
