This year’s roundtable is designed to build on the outcomes from the 2016 Research Roundtables. The 2016 roundtables bought together over 200 participants from government, industry and academia to develop a more coordinated and strategic approach to tourism research.

The feedback from the 2016 roundtables informed the development of the National Approach to Tourism Research (NATR) which identified research priorities for 2017. Information on the 2016 roundtables and the NATR is available from the TRA website here.

The 2017 Research Roundtables will focus on:

Data needs:

  • the national data collection - International Visitor Survey (IVS)/National Visitor Survey (NVS)
  • an approach to market for the IVS/NVS will be undertaken in 2017. The Roundtables will provide an opportunity for you to input into what data needs should be addressed by the next contract.
  • targets and measurement of tourism performance beyond 2020

Developing the work program under the NATR:

  • 2017 Research projects – where are the gaps?
  • Funding – where will the money come from?
  • Partnerships

The aim of this forum is to develop a cooperative and shared approach to the development of walking experiences across the State, consumer positioning and the marketing of SA's standout walking journeys.

The SA Tourism Industry Council in conjunction with the South Australian Department of Environment, Water and Natural Resources (DEWNR) are hosting an exclusive industry forum, designed to bring together tourism operators, tourism industry bodies, conservation groups and local government representatives that have an association or interest with walking journey experiences, sites and trails.

The aim of this forum is to develop a cooperative and shared approach to the development of walking experiences across the State, consumer positioning and the marketing of SA's standout walking journeys. In attending this forum, facilitated by Shaun De Bruyn, SATIC, you’ll hear from the Hon. Ian Hunter, Minister for Sustainability, Environment and Conservation, Tony Smith, Rawnsley Park Station, Emily Ellis, Ecotourism Australia and Chris Thomas, DEWNR.

DISCUSSION TOPICS COULD INCLUDE:

  • How can tourism businesses work together to create memorable experiences for visitors in multi-day walking?
  • What are the commercial opportunities for public access trails?

ATEC and South Australian Tourism Commission, invite South Australian Sellers to Discover SA 2017.

Discover SA will be held on Friday, 7 April and will give ATEC Member Buyers and South Australian Sellers the opportunity to meet in a B2B workshop and network at ‘A Night Out with Friends’ networking function.

Sellers will be seated around the room and buyers will be moving around to the one-on-one timed appointments. Sellers will be provided with a table and chairs and are able to bring one pull-up banner, any collateral that can be handed out to buyers and theming for the table. 
Please bring enough battery power for any laptop or tablet devices. Power-boards will be available around the room to charge up during breaks.

It will empower our delegates to be bold and grow their businesses to create an even better visitor experience and in turn position South Australia as a compelling visitor destination.
